🌱
Month 1: The Beginning
Weeks 1–4
First Trimester👶 Baby's development
A fertilized egg implants in your uterus. The neural tube (brain & spine), heart, and placenta begin forming. Baby is the size of a poppy seed by the end of this month.
🤰 Mom's body
You may not know you're pregnant yet. A missed period is the first clue. Fatigue, breast tenderness, and light spotting (implantation bleeding) are possible.
🩺 Checkups & to-do
- ✓ Take a home pregnancy test
- ✓ Start prenatal vitamins with folic acid (400+ mcg)
- ✓ Schedule your first prenatal appointment
🥗 Nutrition focus
- • Folic acid (400–800 mcg daily) — critical for neural tube development
- • Iron-rich foods: spinach, lean red meat, beans
- • Avoid alcohol, raw fish, and high-mercury fish
💡 Month 1 tip: Most women find out they're pregnant this month. Start prenatal vitamins immediately — folic acid is most important in the earliest weeks.
